I often when arguing upon delicate topics like caste or religion have to make a statement. “I’m not a member or admirer of the BJP or the VHP/RSS kind of an organization, im more so a staunch atheist and have no faith in any religion or god, blah blah…”
I do this more so often in a public space where people may find out that i come from a forward community background although i fail to understand how our community is so forward from the other backward communities. I mean i cannot get a college seat even if i score 80%, i cannot get employment in a government office for all the education i may have and i may not get any relief funding from the government in terms of difficulty because of my caste and community. So how does this make me forward in any manner what so ever?
Nevertheless my point of discussion today is this “Disclaimer” i have to make before i start a topic to debate/argue. The moment i bring up the other side of the story about the plight of the so called forward community people which nobody wants to hear, the media, the government, the press and yes not the last or the least the people themselves…. i get branded as a BJP/RSS/VHP fanatic.
Then follows accusations of me being the arrogant, communal, religious extremist, Hindu fanatic and casteist brahmin cult that i belong to. I’m honestly tired of trying to convince people with logic and sometimes people are so convincing that i myself doubt if im a religious extremist! How cool?
These are the days when any one can walk on the road and place a piece of lemon and saffron on a milestone, say for example on the ECR, make a highway pillayar out of it and build a temple around it and gather funds and sponsor a political party, vote them to power and claim minority and reservations in colleges, jobs and public toilets on the basis how dangerously unsafe their god is on a ECR highway and how the highway should not exist at all since it threatens the god (which was supposed to serve and protect the travellers on it in the first place) and how they are still so backward because of this reason.
In this day when every one can have a political party for themselves, say for example the tamil elams can have “Viduthalai Siruththai” and Dravidians can have “DMK/AIADMK” and nadars or gounders can have “PMK”, i ask why cant the forward community people have a BJP for them? After all is it not their right too in a democratic nation like india to have a political backing for the welfare of their own community? Forget that, lets assume the BJP does not deserve to exist like every other party like the congress or DMK or PMK dont deserve to exist.
My point is why stereo type anyone to be a BJP supporter or an RSS/VHP fanatic? So in your own words if any forward community citizen in india or any other person supporting Hinduism is a BJP fanatic that does establish one fact does not it? That the BJP is the only party that stands for the welfare of the hindu’s in this country? Yes, it stands for the welfare of 82% of the population in this country. How could that be a crime?
That also estabilishes another fact, that none of the other parties in the country are here to listen to the hindus in the country. Yes, considering the fact that we are being ruled by an italian madam under the directions of the vatican its not a big surprise that the BJP is being coffined as a extremist. After all the roots of secularism in india really means anything non hindu is secular and anything hindu would be an act of religious extremism.
I was discussing this with a friend when she said…
“It’s very funny how uppercaste people HAVE to first say that they’re not VHP or BJP affiliated… Or else they’re pounced upon by the so called secularists… That itself reflects the insecurity that’s been instilled in society today”
I think she made the point very clear. If a person is not capable of confidently expressing himself simply because he is scared of being accused of something that he is not this is a situation in this nation that we have to address.

Dilip
U mention how upper caste people have to place a disclaimer about not belonging to unsavory organisations. But a lot of upper caste people have given money to these organisations which is why the rest are stuck in this situation.
