Vaiko and Obama

Apparently Vaiko thinks none of us read the newspapers or do not know who Barrack Obama is. Its either than or he was smoking ACID when he asked for this posted to be printed.

For my dear Caucasian, African-American, Latino, Spanish, French, European, Hispanic and whatever the race from you are and if you do not know who Vaiko is, take it from me with faith. He is an asshole. For starters he supports the LTTE and then the list is endless.

Apparently vaiko met obama in Chicago when he was in one of his official visits to the US of A blowing our indian middle class tax money. Now the trouble is, indian people are hard to convince on some of this shit and hence vaiko did the obvious. Guess what? Yes, he made the picture himself.

MGR is Thalaivar, forever…

MGR is Thalaivar, forever...

Old pap’s was chilling on the road. He had his glasses on, he had his groove on and he had his walking stick on. He don’t give a rats ass about the pollution and he don’t care if its 39 degree Celsius. He is just chilling down, walking on the roads. He is re-living his good old MGR days with those glasses and that smile.

He was kind enough to pose for a photograph while we walked past him near saidapet bus stand.

Freedom

Freedom

These pigeons were up to some real shit okay. No, im not swearing, i mean in reality all they were doing is poo poo’ing the heads of the sacred gods on the temple tower with their biological white paint. So much for blasphemy i was so thrilled that someone was shitting on religion in broad daylight and nobody could do anything about it. What more could an atheist ask for? I was delighted and the sarcasm that flowed was relishing.

Some people think that other people will not do something just because you make it illegal for them to do it. What in essence it actually creates is an illegal black market for it and brings along violence, crime and discrimination of all sorts. Prime examples would be drugs and prostitution. Despite countries having death and life sentence there is no stopping it from happening.

A free country will allow its citizens to inject any garbage into their body as long as it does not harm the person next to him/her. In essence this is what these pigeons represented today morning while i observed them through a long lens. They were messing around with the most sacred of structures and nobody cared it these were Hindu pigeons or Muslim pigeons or Christian pigeons. They had their right to poo on these idols of holiness and we had our right to talk to imaginary beings in our head who will ensure all of us get virgins when we die and go to heaven.

A few good men…

Written by Dilip Muralidaran on July 31, 2008 – 12:27 am -

A few good men

These folks were around the munusami temple under the tree in the NH45 road. We had wiling models for some portraiture and had a lot of fun. The most interesting thing about village people is that they will readily talk politics and you can call anyone an ass and get away with it.

We were talking about whom to vote for this election in the state of Tamilnadu and who would probably win and who would go to jail after winning etc., Gayathri was scared of all this talk and was screaming that someone is going to get killed and be on the 7 o clock news with all this political trashing talk. The fact of the matter is I love to do this every time I’m around villagers. There is an awesome thrill in it, in getting to hear their perspective of things.

You can have everything you want here in the city but there is nothing more charismatic to the adrenaline pumping arguments and reasoning of a villager on some random politician or the government. 3 large grey goose on the rocks cant buy this thrill, I can tell you that for sure.

Of course, this time Ashwin decided he needs to take a pic with these amazing guys. On second thoughts i guess i should have gotten a pic too but then ashwin will agree with me if say that we will drive to this place again just for shooting portraits of these folks.

Moving On..

Written by Dilip Muralidaran on July 28, 2008 – 1:15 am -

Moving On..

More blasts, more people killed, more rubbish useless statements that aren’t worth a paisa from our world class politicians and leaders. We still move on after burning/cremating our dead and yelling a few words in pain, shedding a few tears in despair and accept the fact of the matter that this is India and our lives are cheaper than a white man or black man elsewhere. No racism here, honestly.

When a Caucasian woman can complain “suspecting people taking inappropriate pictures” of her, when the bitch ventured out at 2 AM in the morning with two complete strangers in an alien country that she stepped into 15 hours ago (despite her husband’s orders to the driver to drop her in the hotel room, which she promptly ignored by skipping the driver and her own car) and the cops closing down every pub in town at 10 PM and frisking every brown man and woman on the road, even the innocent everyday call center job guy/girl driving to work with his/her company badge/ID.

What makes this brown man’s life negotiable? Is it because we are brown, dear government of India or is it because we spend in rupees when you could expect dollars and pounds? The white man left in 1947 or rather we chased him out! I wonder why we are continuously trying to kiss his ass, still?

What I would like to know is does India have an “Intelligence” department? If we do are they doing something or are they still jerking off to kinky DVD’s in front of their computers? Why am I getting the feeling that this is total intelligence failure or maybe lack of intelligence?

I now start getting forwarded SMS about some bomb alert in Chennai tomorrow and to avoid public places where there is a lot of crowd. Do people even know what they are talking about? Do you know that you are talking about a country like India where tailgating and sometimes bruising the bumper of the vehicle in the front is normally the accepted way of driving? Do you even remember how people come and beg you to “adjust” with an unreserved ticket in a reserved train compartment, when there are already 5 seated in a seat for 3?

There is no such thing called “not crowded” places in India. Oh wait! There are family planning hospitals and corporation public schools. It’s always empty and we never go there, not even take shelter when it’s raining like cats and dogs. I guess all of us are safe there. I guess we finally found some use for these places, our crores of rupees blown and completely safe and inhabited bomb shelters!!!

Withered

Written by Dilip Muralidaran on April 10, 2008 – 2:41 am -

I work at Tidel Park, I live in Velachery. Now the road to Tidel Park via the Tharamani Link Road is kind of Tedious. So folks like me usually take a short cut short after the CSI church on this road and go through a well cemented slum dwelling and reach the Ascendas IT Park Road. This saves about 2 Kilo meters of Travelling distance, fuel and of course most importantly avoid the damn traffic!

I’m a bit off the usual folks (which is not unusual at all) and I take this small road that takes me through a set of speed breaker ridden street that hurts the spine like crazy. Yet, I drive through this road. Why? The reason is obvious, the road is short, cold, winding and has this temple and small houses of slum dwellings and has an absolute village atmosphere amidst the polluted city. Its such a refreshing experience to travel down this road, look at the rituals in the temple as you drive by, have the cows cross the road all the way, goats, dogs, hen, cats, there is just so much to see.

I happened to be driving back home and I had the camera with me and I stopped by to get a few pictures of this temple structure. Its worn out but an active temple on the road side. The fresh paint has been eroded by the summer rains in Chennai. I just love this place, I do.
