Wedding Woes...

One of my Aunt married a Muslim and obviously converted due to the very reason. I was invited to this wedding of her son and believe me, i was excited like hell. I've never been to a Muslim wedding before and this was my first time. I aspired to acquaint myself with my aunts in laws, get to know them more and hang out with them more since i've never done that all of these years during my childhood and i decided its time to set the record straight.

Coming from a typical Hindu Brahmin family, although there was not any opposition to this wedding of my aunt to her muslim boyfriend in a way the family ties were kind of loosened and broken and none of us family guys really kept in touch with her and i felt this was my chance to set it straight. Of course when she comes over to family occasions at our house there is always a distance because of the difference in cultural aspects such as language, behavior and perspectives. I frankly did not like this much but never did much to change things until now.

I pack my gear and im 2 hours early for the wedding and im thinking im gonna have a great time. Little did i know that i was going to be the biggest fool of all times sitting here like duck to witness sexism, male chauvinism and trade in the name of a wedding go on right in front of my eyes while i could not find the nerve to say nothing or do nothing in the situation.

The wedding hall was very small and all the men were lodged in the ground floor where the wedding ceremony took place and guess what? All the women were debarred from staying downstairs and sent to the first floor, including the Bride whom i never got to meet in this entire agenda of the wedding. The grooms father paid a sum of "13 grams of gold" and purchased the bride for his son, the groom. The agreement or the contract of the wedding was signed and everybody went to dig into the food like it was nobody's business.

I ask this guy who looked like a politician, about the bride and he said that the wedding was over and the bride will be seeing the guests in the evening at the reception where she will be together with the groom. It strikes me as the most inhumane and barbaric act of sexism on a woman, in the 21st century that based on some book a pedophile wrote 100's of years back you don't even look at the fact that there is someone important uninvited into the wedding, let me correct that. "Her Wedding", the bride!

While being repeatedly preached about the importance of gender equality in an Anglo Indian school for 12 years, running around a 2 day occasion of the bride and groom doing various religious stuff at a Hindu wedding and the mutual consent at a Christian Anglo Indian weddings that i've been to i frankly find not having a person who is getting married not to be during the wedding process so unacceptable and sadistic in nature.

Today while i finally mustered up the courage to post these pictures and write these words from my head, i admit that im afraid of such people. The world Islamaphobia as i realize is not some cooked up stuff by the liberals, it exists very well in real life and there is ample evidence for it and i feel it first hand.

What part of the word "fun" does one not understand?

Apologies for the long post but i need to discus this in detail as much as possible. Apologies for the deviation from the topic that i often do, it is habitual of me to do so as you will get to find out when you read more of what i write.

I often read about people bringing out interesting arguments about what is the purpose of things like alcohol, night-clubs, disco's and beach-house parties...

The usual set of arguments are like "I don't understand the words like 'I love to dance, it's a great place to loosen up, and chill out with friends and catch up with good times and make new friends and meet women/men" sort of explanations". Seriously, i mean how more simpler could that answer be or how more honest could it be? Later, then usually come the accusations. A desire for promiscuity and adventure. We aer all pattern seeking animals, aren't all of us supposed to be so when we are normal? Isn't that what homo-sapiens supposed to do post 2 million years of evolution from homo-erectus who were also pattern seeking creatures?

Human Evolution, is not an easy subject to understand. I completely agree, neither do i understand it in all its intricacies and complexities. However with the fundamental knowledge of your 8th to 10th grade matriculation board zoology textbooks which define things just enough to determine real from imaginary helps a lot, and we all know for fact we are pattern seeking animals and also seek patterns of communication and interpretations that do not stick to a pattern, which in itself is a pattern. Was that too long a sentence to confuse the hell out of you? Let me break it down...

1. Man courting woman is a pattern. Man impressing woman with food, shelter and clothing is also a pattern we are all aware of. We all follow this pattern with the exception of some Hindu saints, catholic celibate clergy and shariya practicing Islamic men. Well even that in itself is a pattern of activities to achieve something.
2. Man under the influence of alcohol can act in any way. Although there is a pattern here too its not accurately predictable what exactly one would do with what kind of alcohol and how much. Therefore this lacks clear pattern.

So why cannot this practice of seeking a pattern of fun be so complicated that it cannot be understood at all? I mean when you could believe in a dead father or grand parents become a angel with wings and float down from clouds and be there by your side in times of distress to help you out of those situations and this be so easy and straight forward to understand, why cannot running down a large Grey goose with some red bull and get some buzz in the head and dancing like you don't care what you are doing on the dance floor, be so difficult to understand? At least the latter is straight forward and has documentation to prove it, millions or people in 1000's of night clubs around the world do it and im yet to see a discovery channel DVD on Elvis Presley's dead spirit re-mastering his numbers in his abandoned studio.

Close proximity to strangers, that's another complaint. Why not, i ask? Did we not ever learn a lesson from a magnificent fool called Adolf Hitler? This guy wanted to eliminate all Jews who were apparently the lower breed in their opinion and then inter-breed only higher breed Nazi's within themselves. Several decades down the line we can see how it messed up the poor Germans and how they are today, and no smarter or no stupider by those experiments in artificial selection. On the contrary they are blindly accused of being racists for something the Hitler dude did. The point is natural selection, that is how it works. It looks our for patterns and it picks from them. Of course it also develops new stuff through random mutation but humans on the whole on a psychological scale seek pattern in everything.

Does not the government of India advocate against marrying in the same family or within the blood line. Are not we aware of the massive statistics that claim cross community differential race partners have healthier and smarter offspring's. Isn't that the fact, spread the genes far apart. Is that the biology lesson we forgot? Then why is meeting strangers such a dastardly act? I agree the risks and the security problems involved in the current day scenario. However, it did exist during all times. At least now you have awareness and means of protection, which you did not have back then. Lets say 1 out of every 100 men and women hitting the night clubs and who meet strangers get killed. Let's say that makes night clubs a no gooder. We also have 1 out of every 100 men and women on late night driving get killed on the roads in automobile accidents and incorrect drug prescriptions in hospital wards. Can we also declare that roads, automobiles and doctors and hospitals are evil too?

Some people think that making something illegal will prevent other people who like to do it,  stop doing it. This is like shooting every pigeon on the spot because many of them poo poo in your head. It's practically a bullshit idea, i think.

Finally, there is lust. Why am i the only indian to think that lust is a hallucination of vocabulary. Isn't lust the driving factor behind life. Stop, you pervert! you say? "Love is the essence of life" is the correction that comes from all four corners of the world. The last time i checked the dictionary i found these...

Some examples for LOVE

(A) strong affection for another arising out of kinship or personal ties <maternal love for a child> (B) warm attachment, enthusiasm, or devotion <love of the sea> (C) the sexual embrace : copulation

Some examples for LUST

(A) intense or unbridled sexual desire : lasciviousness (B) an intense longing : craving <a lust to succeed> (C) enthusiasm, eagerness <admired his lust for life>

It appears to me that the physical intimacy part is represented by both words but the emotional intimacy is addressed by LOVE alone. Hence, can we conclude that we are trying to vilify all of the instantaneous intimacy that normally develops/exists between two people when they meet? It happens in temples and churches and it happens in weddings and family occasions. so why the bad name for clubs? Because you cannot decide well what you want when under the influence of alcohol? The point is isn't the fundamental reason why you went clubbing was to have some off the collar fun without the stress of decision making and not carry an responsibilities with it? Is that not also a reason why people go pubbing? Meet new people and hang out and have fun and not care about who likes what or who would get offended when because you probably are not going to hear from them again.

You may scream "but that is not indian culture" and i go back to merriam websters again.

Culture

the characteristic features of everyday existence (as diversions or a way of life} shared by people in a place or time

Is not culture what people at a particular point in time and place like to do or not like to do? When did that interpretation change?

Going to clubs as i see is one's own business. As long as drunken people are not shooting large volumes of people in public space and are not raping women on the dance floors, i think what one likes to do and one does not like to do is ones own business. As long as it does not endanger the life of another person, anything under the sun goes. That is what every free country does, we claim to be one.

Moving On..

Moving On..

More blasts, more people killed, more rubbish useless statements that aren't worth a paisa from our world class politicians and leaders. We still move on after burning/cremating our dead and yelling a few words in pain, shedding a few tears in despair and accept the fact of the matter that this is India and our lives are cheaper than a white man or black man elsewhere. No racism here, honestly.

When a Caucasian woman can complain “suspecting people taking inappropriate pictures” of her, when the bitch ventured out at 2 AM in the morning with two complete strangers in an alien country that she stepped into 15 hours ago (despite her husband’s orders to the driver to drop her in the hotel room, which she promptly ignored by skipping the driver and her own car) and the cops closing down every pub in town at 10 PM and frisking every brown man and woman on the road, even the innocent everyday call center job guy/girl driving to work with his/her company badge/ID.

What makes this brown man’s life negotiable? Is it because we are brown, dear government of India or is it because we spend in rupees when you could expect dollars and pounds? The white man left in 1947 or rather we chased him out! I wonder why we are continuously trying to kiss his ass, still?

What I would like to know is does India have an “Intelligence” department? If we do are they doing something or are they still jerking off to kinky DVD’s in front of their computers? Why am I getting the feeling that this is total intelligence failure or maybe lack of intelligence?

I now start getting forwarded SMS about some bomb alert in Chennai tomorrow and to avoid public places where there is a lot of crowd. Do people even know what they are talking about? Do you know that you are talking about a country like India where tailgating and sometimes bruising the bumper of the vehicle in the front is normally the accepted way of driving? Do you even remember how people come and beg you to “adjust” with an unreserved ticket in a reserved train compartment, when there are already 5 seated in a seat for 3?

There is no such thing called “not crowded” places in India. Oh wait! There are family planning hospitals and corporation public schools. It’s always empty and we never go there, not even take shelter when it’s raining like cats and dogs. I guess all of us are safe there. I guess we finally found some use for these places, our crores of rupees blown and completely safe and inhabited bomb shelters!!!

Bad Questions to ask a transsexual.

Awesome Video. I can't relate to this more than now.

It's funny how many of those dumb asses there are really who would really ask such fucked up questions in the first place. I know this personally I get some really fucked up questions all the time. gggawwhh! I wish the world was filled with more smart people who had brains the size of a common ground squirrel and would have the basic moral judgement to know what questions are ok and not ok to ask.
